Pyrometers for measurement in aluminum

Pyrometers measure the amount of infrared energy emitted by the surface of an object and then convert this signal into a temperature value. While many factors affect measurement accuracy, the most important consideration is the selection of the sensor design that most effectively compensates for the emissivity characteristics of the measured surface.

Successful temperature measurement of non-greybody materials, such as aluminum, requires the use of a multi-wavelength sensor to compensate for the complex emissivity characteristics of these materials. For example, variations in the emissivity of aluminum occur with changes in the alloy, surface oxidation, surface texture, surface contamination, and crystal structure.

We have an exclusive line of patented aluminum pyrometers that use a completely new approach to accurately measure temperature. These aluminum pyrometers provide highly accurate non-contact temperature measurement of the actual target emissivity and intermediates are not sensitive to changes in emissivity or other target parameters and are not affected by intermediate conditions between the pyrometer and the target. As a result, aluminum pyrometers are capable of handling the unstable targets and intermediate conditions commonly found in aluminum by indicating the target temperature with a high degree of accuracy.

A5-IN

The A5-IN is a plug and play multi-wavelength pyrometer that uses an application-specific database derived from years of real-world application experience. This pyrometer uses special algorithms to accurately calculate both the actual temperature and emissivity of the surface. A5-IN can hold multiple databases so that a single instrument can be easily switched between multiple applications such as cast metal, extruded profiles, surface rolled aluminum, continuous casting, aluminum billets, slabs, etc.

The A5-IN pyrometer offers Bluetooth communication so that it can communicate with Android smartphones or laptops to view the measured temperature and to adjust parameters/database selection and data logging.

A5-EX

The A5-EX is a plug and play multi-wavelength pyrometer that uses an application-specific database derived from years of real-world application experience. The A5-EX pyrometer uses special algorithms to accurately calculate both the actual temperature and emissivity of the surface. It has a laser pointer that aligns itself in line with the detector to ensure that both the laser and the detector are looking at the same place. This helps to aim accurately even at long distances.
